MICHAEL'S BACKGROUND
Michael Gonzalez Wallace has been involved with athletic sports for over 20 years, which is almost half his age. Michael’s athletic career spans many years practicing semi-pro basketball in Spain, where his team, Estudiantes won the Spanish National Competition (similar to NCAA in USA and he was named the MVP of the Final, May 1993). In 1995 the Spanish basketball federation certified Michael as a strength trainer and basketball coach providing him the opportunity to develop his teaching skills.
Although moving to NYC in 2002 to pursue a banking career Gonzalez-Wallace, become a personal trainer for New York sports Club and received a certification from the National Academy of sports Medicine. He was drawn to sports medicine as if fate had a different calling for him. Then his life went to a profound transformation moving from banking to the health sector. He says, “The reward of helping people to achieve their goals was the best thing it has ever happened to me”
At the National Academy of Sports medicine he learned the significance of core strength, proper postural alignment and the neuromuscular system, the latter being essential to develop his program called neuromuscular progressive strength training.
The exercise program takes into account the connections between the nervous and Muscular systems and the way is connected with fitness and our health. The nervous system is connected to the muscular system through a set of filaments, called neuromuscular junctions. These junctions are responsible for the efficient communication between the Nervous and Muscular systems
MY SYSTEM
• The Neuromuscular Progressive Strength Training (NMPST) is the physical exercise program that strengthens your brain as well as all your muscles, creates neural pathways, builds up resilient joints and bones, boosts your immune system, develops gradually your balance, all the while burning calories, toning, trimming and shaping your body.
• This new routine of exercises are structured in four levels that gradually advance. Each movement has been designed to combine balance and strength. In each movement the upper and lower body are performing different movements at the time we add a challenging balance position. The result of this program is to have a significant impact on our health and aging. This exercise program is for everyone: from teenagers (facilitate cognitive learning) or after 40 years old and have an appropriate action plan to battle the aging factor.
• Lately, appropriate programming in physical training has been associated to new concepts such as neuromuscular efficiency, motor learning, neuromuscular adaptations, core stabilization, proprioception or joint integrity. The system will eventually result in an increased mind-body awareness. This system is completely unlike traditional strength training that focuses upon bodybuilding techniques.
• The four levels of NMPST are not only designed to alter your body fat, but provide many other crucial health benefits.
The system takes into account the following principles:
➢ 1. -The role of the cerebellum in our brain. The Cerebellum’s main functions are: Balance, coordinated movement, proper postural alignment, and muscle timing (among others). Every exercise has been designed to incorporate the cerebellum activity in every single movement.
➢ 2. - The creation of new neural pathways: through the constant change of the levels we are forcing the wiring of the brain to be adapting to each level of exercises. The possibility of the development of new neuron and synaptic connections (tested successfully in animals)
➢ 3. - Promote the efficient communication between the nervous and the muscular system, improve the neuromuscular efficiency and reduce the deterioration of the neuromuscular junctions.
➢ Last and not least are the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular benefits. The increase of lean body mass, muscle fiber distribution and body fat reduction will be some of the benefits once started this program.
➢ Results: it is a 12 Week program. However, the results will start after the 4th week.
